The manufacturing facility will be closed in Pa.; 140 people will be laid off

An expandable polystyrene manufacturer is closing its facility in Beaver County.

Styropek It filed a Notice of Worker Adjustment and Retraining notifying the state that it would cease production and permanently close its facility at 400 Frankfort Road in Potter Township, near Monaca, and lay off 140 people.

The company plans to cease all production at the facility in January. Layoffs will begin on January 3. Layoffs will continue to complete the necessary activities to permanently decommission the facility in early 2026.

The WARN Act is a federal law that provides protections to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide 60 days notice of closed business closures and closed business mass layoffs. The WARN notice was dated November 1.

Styropek has six manufacturing facilities in Mexico, the United States, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
