The tea seller who threatened the man with a sword in the hotel parking lot was arrested

A Tea woman was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail Friday after waving her full-size sword, complete with sheath, at a hotel parking lot, Sioux Falls Police Department Sgt. Travis Olsen said at a police briefing to the media on Monday.

The 45-year-old woman faces two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana, according to a Minnehaha County court document.

Allegedly, the woman approached a man in the parking lot of a hotel near 60 around 13:00.he Street North and Cliff Avenue, Olsen said. While the man was warming up his car in the parking lot, the woman came up to him with a sword in her hand and started threatening him.

The victim was not injured, Olsen said. The woman was a stranger to the victim.

The woman is not identified in this story because this is not a case that The Argus Leader will currently pursue through the court system.
