Man pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in drunk driving crash on Hwy. 280

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A grand jury indicted Gabriel Uncapher, 20, for reckless homicide in the death of 19-year-old Virginia “Cricket” Davis.

Court documents show that on Nov. 18, Uncapher pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

A. civil lawsuit Uncapher alleges that Davis and another man left after drinking and attending a concert at the Zydeco bar in the early morning hours in June. Shortly after, the Grand Cherokee they were driving crashed on Highway 280 near Hollywood Boulevard.

In the indictment, prosecutors state that he was speeding and under the influence of alcohol and THC at the time of the accident.

The sentence in this case continues until January 13, 2025.
