The Frank Bruno Foundation, which continues to grow stronger, will continue on its way.

However, Bruno, who sadly announced the closure of his academy in a post on social media, said: “Due to many factors, it was decided to close the academy. boxing In order for the academy to continue successfully, it needed a building of its own.

“Although a suitable building had been found, it had not been possible to purchase this building, which was already operated as a boxing gym. It is therefore with great regret that we must accept that we can no longer continue without a suitable facility.

“You know, the people who suffer the most from this are the people who need something positive to look forward to and engage in. My team and I really tried.

“As I’ve said many times before, if it wasn’t for boxing, I would go to jail.”

Last night a source close to Frank Bruno told SunSport his determination to continue fighting for those experiencing mental health issues will remain unchanged.

The source said: “Frank has been working tirelessly with his foundation to help those suffering in silence. “He is gutted the academy will have to close.

“But his foundation is doing very well and Frank will continue to give it his full support.”

The Frank Bruno Foundation offers wellbeing programmes, including a ‘job retention’ programme, to help professionals cope with mental health issues.

It aims to provide services to help participants overcome the challenges they face, stay in work, and provide them with the tools and skills to manage their mental health.

The charity also offers a “wrapping service”, where mentors assist and help with things such as housing advice and filling out benefit forms.

Assistance is also provided with resume writing, searching for volunteer roles in the community, and volunteering to help with TFBF projects.

Bruno shared another post confirming that the foundation will continue.

It read: “Good morning, while people are confused can I confirm once again, the Frank Bruno Foundation charity and building is NOT, I repeat NOT, closed, this is a boxing academy.

“The charity/foundation is working hard and going from strength to strength and we are welcoming new people every week.

“We provide a service that is now proving essential for people with mental health problems and their carers in the Northampton area.”
