NORFOLK, Va. — News 3 is covering a shooting that occurred over the weekend near the ODU campus.

While police were investigating, we spoke with two ODU students who got a little too close to the action. One told us he literally dodged a bullet in his sleep after the shooting.

“I woke up around 5 a.m. and saw a hole in the wall and said, ‘This is kind of crazy,'” ODU’s Jake Owens said.

Although it didn’t affect Owens, the bullet woke up his roommate, Aaron Anderson.

According to the students, the damage is not that much.

“One of our friends’ truck was parked in the front yard and his truck crashed,” Anderson explained.

Police tell us the three people killed in Sunday’s shooting were hospitalized and are expected to recover.

Police are still investigating the attack and have not released the names and ages of the injured. They also did not share any potential motive behind the attack.
