Two people stabbed at Castor Garden Middle School in Philadelphia

Police are investigating after two people were injured following a stabbing at a middle school in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to Castor Gardens Middle School in the 1800 block of Cottman Avenue just after noon after receiving a report of a person with a gun. Officers found a 63-year-old woman who was stabbed in the left side of her body and a 31-year-old woman who was stabbed in the right arm, police said.

The first woman was taken to an area hospital, but her condition was not immediately known. The second woman refused medical treatment, police said.

While the police detained the suspect, a gun was also seized. Further information was not immediately available.

The School District of Philadelphia did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
