Overland Park police ask for public’s help finding sexual assault suspect

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Overland Park police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected in a sexual assault and robbery Tuesday morning.

The man entered a home near West 97th Street and Reeder Street around 2:40 a.m.

The victim did not know her attacker but described the man as being in his late 20s to early 30s with a stocky build, according to Overland Park police.

He was wearing a black jacket and a black beanie-style hat.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“While incidents like this are extremely rare in Overland Park, we are fully aware of the seriousness and urgency of the situation,” OPPD Chief Doreen Jokerst said in a statement. he said. “This is why community support is so critical to our work, and we trust the public to help us in situations like these.”
