Police investigating allegations of theft at Lebanon Public Works

LEBANON, NH (WCAX) – Police in Lebanon, New Hampshire are investigating allegations of theft by multiple employees of the city’s Department of Public Works.

Police said they were notified of a potential crime by town officials in early October.

We don’t yet know how many people were involved or what was stolen.

We know that researchers conducted about a dozen interviews.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and they hope to wrap it up in the next three to four weeks.

“The police department is completely independent and independent of the city’s internal investigation. Ours is a criminal investigation into this. Our findings will be shared with the Grafton County Prosecutor’s Office to determine future charges. Lebanon Police Chief Phil Roberts said the city side of the investigation involved more procedural and policy violations.

We reached out to the city manager’s office for comment on the investigation but had not yet heard back as of the time this story was published.

Lebanon Public Works employs more than 50 people who manage the city’s roads, utilities and solid waste.
