Off-duty CPD officer injured, woman killed in Northwest Side shooting, stabbing

CHICAGO – An investigation continues after an off-duty Chicago police officer was injured in a shooting and a second man was fatally stabbed on the city’s Northwest Side Tuesday afternoon.

According to Chicago fire officials, the incident occurred in the 5600 block of West Leland Avenue around 2:30 p.m.

Fire officials said the off-duty officer suffered a gunshot wound in the area and was taken to the hospital in good condition.

Chicago police confirmed that the second person involved in the incident (an unidentified woman) suffered stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire officials said a third person involved in the incident is believed to have fled the scene, but it remains unclear how they became involved or whether they are considered suspects in the case.

Authorities have not provided an update on what led to the shooting or stabbing or if any arrests have been made.
