Police say noise complaint led to fatal stabbing at suburban Motel 6

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, Il.A Mississippi man was arrested after an incident Fatal stabbing at Motel 6 inside Possible Altitudes Sunday morning.

Remington Carroll, 23, was charged with home invasion resulting in injury after one of his friends was stabbed to death following an argument.

According to Prospect Heights police, officers responded to 540 N. Milwaukee Ave. He responded to a 911 call reporting assault at a motel located at . When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with stab wounds. Despite rescue efforts, it was determined that the injured person died at the scene.

According to police, Carroll and his friends were staying at the motel and causing chaos in the hallway. The victim, who was also staying at the motel, argued with the group at around 01.55 o’clock due to noise.

The victim took out his pocket knife and returned to his room. Carroll and his friends allegedly kicked in the victim’s door, demanding he come out. When he opened the door, the group burst in and one of Carroll’s friends was stabbed in the stomach during the fight.

The victim stabbed Carroll in the hand, allowing him to close the door, according to police. The victim also suffered injuries to his hands.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Prospect Heights Police Department determined that the victim acted in self-defense. The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined.

Carroll appeared in court Tuesday. No further information was given.
