Study: 1 in 20 adults with RSV hospitalized within 28 days after infection

About 1 in 20 adults with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) requires hospitalization within 28 days of infection. report Published on Tuesday JAMA Network Open shows.

The proportion of adults hospitalized with RSV was 6.2% in one database, 6% in a second database, and 4.5% in a third database. The amount of hospitalization in high-risk individuals was determined as 7.6%, 8.5% and 6.5% in the relevant databases.

The rate of hospitalizations for people aged 65 and over and those suffering from COPD, congestive heart failure or asthma was 90.6 percent in the first database, 74.5 percent in the second database and 80.4 percent in the last database.

The rate of hospitalizations among high-risk individuals aged 75 and over was 8.1%, 8.7% and 6.7%, respectively.
