Dewan Rakyat says MyJPJ app may soon send road tax renewal reminders

KUALA LUMPUR: Upcoming improvements to the MyJPJ mobile app will include notifications reminding users to renew their road tax.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the development is part of his ministry’s ongoing efforts to digitize Road Transport Department (JPJ) services under an initiative launched on February 10 last year.

“The Ministry and JPJ are committed to continuously improving the MyJPJ application to enhance online service delivery to the public.

“This feature will be announced when it is fully developed and ready for use,” Loke told Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Nov. 20).

He noted that since February 1 this year, users have been able to renew their road tax or motor vehicle registrations (LKM) and driver’s licenses (LMM) directly through the app.

He said a “Share LKM” function has also been introduced to address complaints about the use of vehicles owned by others and allow vehicle owners to share their road tax digitally.

“JPJ plans to deliver improvements to the app in phases prioritized by need and cost,” he added.
