In the ninth episode of season 3, titled “Revelations: Chapter One”, Boyd was shown to be affected by worsening symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. In Season 1, Boyd was seen suffering from involuntary hand tremors, which he believed were caused by Parkinson’s disease.

Boyd thought he shared his father’s fate and assumed that his symptoms were the beginnings of Parkinson’s disease because his father had started tremors when he was around the same age as Boyd.

In the second season and early in the third season, Boyd’s condition does not seem to have gotten that bad, but in the final episode of season 3, Boyd’s health appears to be deteriorating further.

Boyd’s leg freezes, a symptom, and he becomes stuck trying to get Ellis out of the woods and back to the Sheriff’s station. He had to enlist Ellis’ help to get out of the woods.
