Patrol officers responded to a 911 call about an armed robbery at a convenience store in Jamaica around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived on scene, people there said a man entered the store, robbed and demanded money, and threatened both customers and staff with a black gun. During the robbery, a single shot was fired before the man fled south.

About an hour later, officers were flagged down by a witness who pointed out the suspect near Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street and said he was robbing a nearby smoke shop.

Two police officers came to the suspect and asked him to stop. The suspect did not comply and produced a firearm and fled eastbound on Jamaica Boulevard. Police officers reportedly ordered him to drop the gun, but the suspect did not do so.
