Former youth pastor arrested on nearly 100 child sex charges across NCWV

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – A former youth pastor is now facing nearly 100 child sex charges in four counties in North Central West Virginia.

II from Nicholas County, according to West Virginia State Police. John Radcliff was charged with child sexual abuse between 1987 and 2003 in Lewis, Harrison, Braxton and Nicholas counties.

Radcliff was first arrested in September in Nicholas County for incidents that occurred in 2018 and 2019, which led to interviews with multiple victims and investigations in multiple counties.

According to court documents in Lewis County, Radcliff began abusing two teenage girls, one of whom was Radcliff’s niece, when they were just 3 and 4 years old. Both girls, now adults, told police about multiple incidents that occurred in Lewis County in which Radcliff performed sexual acts on them and otherwise sexually assaulted them throughout their childhood.

One of the victims told police that Radcliff, along with his wife, Kathy Radcliff, brought him and his cousin, who were about the same age, into their bedroom and forced them to watch a pornographic movie with them while the couple had sexual intercourse. affect each other. The girl said she left the room to hide, and Kathy later found her and asked if she was okay.

Just as the victim told police that Kathy was always aware of everything that was going on, Kathy was also charged in Lewis County with exhibiting obscene things to a minor and her accomplice in connection with the aforementioned incident.

Both John and Kathy are currently in the Central Regional Jail. In total, John’s bond is set at over $1.7 million in Lewis, Harrison and Braxton counties, while Kathy’s bond is set at $75,000 in Lewis.

Radcliff faces a total of 98 charges across four counties, all filed Monday. He faces the following charges in the following counties:

Lewis County

Radcliff was charged with seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, five counts of first-degree sexual assault, 12 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or guardian, five counts of incest and one count of exhibiting obscene matter to a minor. Events that occurred between 1987 and 2003. The bond was set at $1,000,000.

Braxton County

Radcliff was charged with 15 counts of first-degree sexual assault, 15 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or guardian, and 15 counts of incest for incidents that occurred between 1995 and 2000. The guarantee amount was set at $250,000.

Harrison County

Radcliff was charged with one count of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or guardian, one count of first-degree sexual assault and one count of incest for incidents that occurred in 2002. The bond amount was set at $450,000.

Nicholas County

Radcliff was charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault, eight counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or guardian and eight counts of incest for incidents that occurred in 2018 and 2019.
