It wasn’t long ago that skateboarding was shunned by both the media and the many brands that now cater to its community, and was initially seen as a foreign sport to those around it. But from the 1980s to the turn of the century, cultural luminaries from the hip hop and skateboarding circles established a new paradigm in the fledgling world of streetwear and set the stage for where the pulse of the culture is today.
