JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found shot to death in his Deercreek area home Wednesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple sources told News4JAX that this was a case of a son shooting and killing his father.

According to JSO, officers were called to a home on Fawn Lake Drive South just after 8 a.m. in response to a person shot.

When police arrived, they found a man in his 60s shot to death in the home. JSO said the man suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

A man in his late 20s or early 30s was taken into custody and is being questioned by detectives, according to JSO.

News4JAX asked JSO Homicide Detective Ray Reeves if the man who was shot was related to the man in custody. “They knew each other,” Reeves said, but could not comment on their exact relationship.

This case has been classified as pending as detectives await the autopsy report from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
