1 dead, another hospitalized in fatal crash in Zion

ZION – A suburban man died and another driver was hospitalized after a crash Tuesday night. Zion.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Green Bay Road.

When officers arrived, they found two vehicles with heavy damage: a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette and a 2024 Cadillac 350T.

According to authorities, the Chevrolet entered the intersection at a stop sign without allowing oncoming traffic. The driver who was thrown from the Chevrolet died at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner identified the deceased as 65-year-old Kenneth Fike. Beach Park. He died from blunt force injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital.

The Zion Police Department and Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) are still investigating the crash.
