Police locate teen 'involved' in fatal stabbing in Ahwatukee; no arrests were made

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — Authorities say they have located a teenager involved in a stabbing that killed another teenage boy in the Ahwatukee neighborhood throughout the weekend.

Phoenix police said Wednesday that the unidentified teen gave a statement to investigators, but no arrests have been made in the death of 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves.

Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, Phoenix police were called to investigate a nearby stabbing. Route 35 and Lakewood ParkwaySouth of Chandler Boulevard. Investigators arrived and found Reeves seriously injured. The man was taken to hospital and died later that night.

Authorities said Reeves was with a group of friends at the time of the fight that led to the stabbing.

Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses, obtained a search warrant, and seized various pieces of evidence related to the crime.

Reeves was a sophomore and a member of the varsity football team. Mountain Pointe High School. Friends told Arizona Family that he joined the team when he was a freshman and had dreams of playing professional football.

A. A commemoration ceremony was held earlier this weekWhere dozens of family members and friends gathered to honor the high school student. The family said Reeves decided to donate his organs.

“There are so many people who cared about him that I’ll never forget him and we’ll live that way forever,” said Ceth Reeves, Jaylen’s uncle.
