Bee Gees star dies four days before band’s drummer Colin Petersen

Drummer Dennis Bryon Bee GeesHe died at the age of 76, becoming the second member of the band to die this week.

Just four days after Bryon’s death death, The band’s first drummer, Colin ‘Smiley’ Petersen, also passed away.He is 78 years old.

Petersen joined the Bee Gees in the 1960s, shortly after the band was formed. siblings Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb played with the band from 1973 to 1981, while Bryon played with the band from 1973 to 1981.

Cardiff-born Bryon died in Nashville on November 14, along with his former bandmate Blue Weaver, who also played with him in UK bands Amen Corner and Fair Weather, and confirmed the news.

She wrote on Facebook: “I am lost for words right now…Dennis has passed away.

“Dennis’ wife Kayte just called me and asked if I would let all my friends and fans know. This was a huge shock.

Bryon became a key member of the Bee Gees during their transition to the label. discoHe contributed to iconic hit songs such as Night Fever, How Deep Is Your Love, Stayin’ Alive and You Should Be Dancing. The Bee Gees went on to sell more than 200 million records worldwide.

News of his passing follows the death of the band’s original drummer, Petersen, at the age of 78, his representatives confirmed.

The music star, who joined brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb in the 1960s and played on hits such as I Started A Joke, To Love Somebody and I Just Gotta Get A Message To You, died on Monday.

Before leaving the band, he contributed to four Bee Gees albums, including several songs on 1970’s Cucumber Castle.

Petersen’s publicist, Sue Camilleri, confirmed that Petersen has played the Best Of The Bee Gees tribute show in the last five years.

Best of the Bee Gees production manager Gary Walker said Petersen played a show on Saturday and was “happy and cheeky as ever” on Sunday.

He confirmed Petersen died in his sleep in the early hours of Monday morning, telling the PA news agency: “It was very sudden.”

Meanwhile, manager Greg Shaw said in a statement: “I have known Colin for 34 years and was thrilled when he agreed to bring his career full circle by joining Best Of The Bee Gees.

“His endearing nature and unabashed storytelling brought unique perspectives to shows and he was loved on and off stage.

“It was an honor to call him my friend.”

Bee Gees star Maurice died unexpectedly in 2003, aged 53, from complications from a twisted bowel; His twin, Robin, died at the age of 62 from liver and kidney failure after battling colorectal cancer in 2012.

Before his music career, Petersen was a child actor and starred in the 1956 Australian film Smiley; This character earned him his nickname.

Petersen is survived by two sons, Jaime and Ben.
