7 people died as a result of passenger bus overturning in Hazaribagh on Kolkata-Patna route: Police

The bus was operating between Kolkata and Patna when the accident occurred in Gorhar area of ​​Hazaribagh district.

-Ranchi: Seven people were killed and many others were injured when a Patna-bound bus overturned in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district on Thursday morning, police said on Thursday.

The bus was operating between Kolkata and Patna when the accident took place in Gorhar area under Barkatha police station of Hazaribagh district, about 50 kilometers from the district headquarters.

Police said that the accident occurred around 06:00 in the morning.

Hazaribagh superintendent of police (SP) Arvind Kumar Singh said he had received confirmation of seven deaths.

Motichand Prasad, who lost his wife Rajkumari Prasad in the accident, said, “We were sleeping when the accident happened in the morning. “We took a bus from Kolkata to go to Bihar on Wednesday,” said Prasad, a resident of Bihar’s Gopalganj, according to PTI.

Police emphasized that the company had a contract to widen the highway to a six-lane road, leaving some gaps that the driver could only notice at the last moment, but the circumstances in which the accident occurred have not yet been determined.

Ganesh Kumar, a passenger, said that the vehicle overturned a few minutes after the driver crossed a sharp bend, PTI reported.

Local villagers led the rescue efforts of more than 50 passengers on the bus.
