Jason Sokolofsky

Jason Michael Sokolofsky, 41, faces three charges related to registration violations and one count of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, stemming from contacts made with him in March 2022.

Sokolofsky, who is classified as a Level 3 offender, was ordered to register with the Minnesota Predatory Offender Registry at the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension by March 4, 2035. The record includes reporting addresses of primary and secondary places of residence; any property owned, rented or leased in the state; employment addresses; year, make, model, license plate and color of vehicles owned or regularly used; as well as all phone numbers including work, school, home and cell service.

According to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Sokolofsky, 41, had sexual intercourse with a young woman known to be 25 years old and took advantage of the victim’s vulnerable state to obtain compliance.

Court documents state Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies contacted Sokolofsky in March 2022 and he told them his current phone number, which was different from other phone numbers listed in his listing. He also provided registration for a vehicle that was not registered.

A detective interviewed Sokolofsky a few days later, and he reportedly admitted to having two more new phone numbers and admitted that three numbers had gone unreported. Two more phone numbers were registered.

He said his wife had owned the vehicle for about a year and acknowledged that he also had access to it.

When he was arrested, authorities found a silver tube containing methamphetamine.

Sokolofsky was previously convicted of predatory criminal failure to register in 2017.

The charge to which he pleaded guilty Thursday carries a mandatory minimum sentence of two years in prison.
