Police intervened in the bar three times in JulyFargo Police told the Liquor Control Board meeting on Nov. 20 that the bar hosted a concert in October.

A police report was forwarded to the county prosecutor and the bar owner, Heba Ismail, was charged with violating the alcohol permit after working hours.

Liquor Board members asked if more needed to be done to ensure Cairo Restaurant and Bar complies with city regulations.

“We’re handling this the best we can,” captain Matt Christensen said. “They can be open as long as they don’t serve alcohol. Our officers make a very conscious effort to get us through there to make sure they comply with the rules of being legal.

Board member Rob Nelson said, “So you said they are having a concert, is this concert happening at like three in the morning?” he asked.

“Yes, inside the bar,” replied Captain Christensen.

Dave Piepkorn said, “I don’t attend a lot of concerts at three in the morning, Rob, but I guess it’s allowed since they don’t serve alcohol.” “I think it’s something we need to address in the future, especially if it’s in a neighborhood where something like this has happened,” Piepkorn continues.

Monday’s City Commission agenda states that the liquor license suspension and revocation agreement with Cairo Restaurant and Bar will be discussed.
