Jaylen Reeves’ family is grieving after the teenager was stabbed to death. Police want more information.

The family of 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves is speaking out for the first time since he was stabbed to death in Ahwatukee over the weekend.

Police said Jaylen was stabbed as a result of a fight between two groups of teenagers, but no arrests were made in the incident.

Over the past few days, the Ahwatukee community has come together to honor Reeves and show support for his family.

A memorial grows every day since Jaylen’s death.

“He was on fire when he was on the field.”

A strong player on the field, Jaylen Reeves’ grandmother and mother will always remember him that way.

Phoenix Police found the Ahwatukee teenager stabbed to death in a neighborhood near 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard.

He died hours later.

“The thing I’ll miss the most about him is our trips to school every day. I would drive him to school every morning and for those 10-12 minutes we would talk about anything,” Carla said.

Now family and friends visit his growing memorial to talk to him.

“I’m here all day, every day, and I play bass for him, I read books for him,” said Reba Reeves, Jaylen’s aunt.

“The community that supports us helps us heal,” his grandmother said.

Jaylen’s mother is still trying to make sense of the act of violence that claimed her son’s life.

“He loved his mom, dad and family. He was a good kid,” Carla said.

She wrote to us in a Facebook message that it was Jaylen’s firstborn child. He was his rock and biggest supporter.

She still feels like her son’s life was taken, but she wants everyone to know how much his family loved him.

Anyone with information regarding this stabbing is asked to contact Phoenix Police.
