Capitol Police arrest man after baby was sent to hospital unresponsive

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Capitol Police arrested a man for felony child abuse after a child was found unresponsive Thursday.

According to Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Bailey Martin, Capitol Police responded to a call for service regarding an unresponsive child.

The child was transported to UMMC and remains in critical condition.

Jarvis Stewart, 20, was arrested on a charge of felony child abuse in connection with this incident.

Police teams continue to collect information about the incident.
