Big Night from Ole Miss Basketball Offense Leads to Big Win Against Oral Roberts

OXFORD — Ole Miss Rebels After a dominant 100-68 victory, they improved to 5-0 on the season. Oral Roberts Golden Eagles Thursday night at the SJB Pavilion.

rebels They took a 10-point lead with a 14-0 run in the middle of the first half, and continued to lead by 10 points in the second half, closing the first twenty minutes ahead 50-40.

The Rebels were led by Sean Pedulla, who scored 15 points in the first half. Pedulla was one of three double-digit scorers in the first frame, joined by Mikeal Brown-Jones and Matthew Murrell.

The Rebels’ second half was even better, as they fired back and raced to a 20-point lead.

Ole Miss was in the driver’s seat for the rest of the game and did not allow Oral Roberts to get back into the contest.

The Rebels’ offense was unstoppable, scoring as many as 100 points and nearly tying the Pavilion record of 103. That included five double-digit scorers, led by Murrell’s season-high 19 and Pedulla’s 19 coming into the game. Murrell’s performance also moved him into 15th place all-time in scoring at Ole Miss.

As a team, Ole Miss shot 54 percent from the field and 38 percent from three, while Oral Roberts had 43 percent and 31 percent, respectively.

In addition to the shooting offense, the Ole Miss defense was unbreakable throughout the night, forcing 21 turnovers and forcing 37 turnovers.

The Rebels have made it 18 straight wins against non-conference opponents as they look forward to taking on BYU on Thanksgiving next Thursday at the Rady Kids Invitational in San Diego.
