Witnesses sought for man killed and woman seriously injured in horrific traffic accident

One person died and a woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Karaman. County Leitrim.

Gardai and emergency services said they attended the scene of the fatal incident in Derryherk after the alarm went off shortly before 7am.

“The single vehicle collision occurred on the local road between Kinlough and Garrison. It was determined that the male person in his 20s, who was in the vehicle, died at the scene. A garda spokesman said his body was later taken to the morgue at Sligo University Hospital.

The vehicle’s other passenger, a woman in her 40s, was transported to Sligo University Hospital for treatment of what is believed to be serious injuries.

A technical examination was carried out at the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.The road currently remains closed.

Local diversions are in place and gardai sayinvestigations are ongoing.
