Pedestrian killed in Salisbury crash

Police said a pedestrian in his 70s died after being hit by a car.

The incident happened on Exeter Street in Salisbury shortly before 06:00 GMT on Friday.

Wiltshire Police said the incident involved a pedestrian and a car who were near his van. A police spokesman added that the man’s next of kin had been informed and no arrests had been made.

Officers warned motorists to expect “significant delays” due to road closures on Exeter Street between St Ann Street and the Churchill Road junction.

Police confirmed the road was expected to remain closed for “a number of hours”.

The force’s serious collision investigation team is appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage to come forward.
