Kent County man with HIV found guilty of sexually abusing child

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A Kent County jury found Christopher Haggerty guilty of sexually abusing multiple children over several years.

Haggerty is HIV+.

One of his victims told investigators the abuse began when he was 5 or 6 and continued until he was 11.

According to previous newsAnother possible victim was confirmed to have an HIV diagnosis.

Although sentencing has not been scheduled, Haggerty faces life in prison.

On Wednesday, he was found guilty of 3 counts of 1st Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct involving a person under the age of 13, 1 count of 2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct involving a person under the age of 13, and 1 count of Intentional Transmission of HIV. Carelessly Having Sex With An Uninformed Partner Without Leading To HIV.
