‘Settlement’ in gang rape case, man who received 45 million rupees arrested

Police claimed to have arrested a man who extorted 45 lakh rupees from a person for “consensus” in a gang rape case.

Police recovered money amounting to 40 thousand rupees from the accused.

SP Lokender Singh identified the accused as Nempal of Kabri village and added that a person from Old Industries police station area came to the SP office and lodged a complaint in which he said that it was a case of gang rape, kidnapping of a minor child. On October 22, there was a record of death threats against the girl and her nephews at the police station.

2-3 days after the case was registered, Kabrili Nempal came to him with his wife and asked for money to reach a settlement in the case. But he refused to give him money. Following this, he threatened them with dire consequences if they did not give him money. They agreed to give him money after that.

Nempal came to a property dealer’s office on October 31 and demanded Rs 1 lakh for settlement in the case, but the deal was finalized for Rs 45 lakh and they gave him money. But he again started demanding Rs 5 lakh more from them and threatened them that he would not cancel the case.

A case was registered in the Old Industrial area and the investigation was handed over to the CIA-1 team, which nabbed the accused Nempal near the Dabri flyover on Wednesday evening and recovered Rs 40 lakh from him.

The accused announced that he had paid his debt of Rs 5 lakh. The police produced Nempal in court on Thursday and sent him to judicial custody.
