Authorities investigating fatal hit-and-run in Teaneck

Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Teaneck Thursday evening.

Just before 7 p.m. Thursday, the Teaneck Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a pedestrian lying in the roadway on Cedar Lane near the intersection with Lincoln Place in Teaneck.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, upon arrival, officers determined that the person had been struck by a vehicle and that vehicle had left the scene of the collision.

Yaya was taken to Holy Name Hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the prosecutor’s office, their identities are being kept secret until their relatives are notified.

The incident is currently being investigated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Teaneck Police Department.
