Florida woman arrested for shoplifting after posting video showing Target carry

A Cape Coral, Florida, woman was arrested on shoplifting charges after posting a video on TikTok showing a video allegedly stolen from Target.

The Cape Coral police department was called to a local Target on Wednesday, Nov. 20, due to a past theft that had occurred at the business.

The store said on Oct. 30, a woman later identified as Marlena Valez entered the store and took items off the shelf. Valez allegedly scanned a fake barcode that allowed him to pay lower prices at self-checkout.

It was stated that 16 items with a total value of $500 were stolen and police officers looked at security footage to identify the woman. They later posted a photo of Valez on Instagram; users identified him and sent his social media accounts to the Police Department.

Videos published on Instagram and tiktok He helped police identify Valez. In fact, in one video, she was seen wearing the same outfit she wore in security footage from the local Target store.

Valez’s Instagram and TikTok pages have since been deleted, but a Cape Coral Police Department post on Instagram shows part of the video he posted on both accounts.

The woman was arrested on Nov. 21 and released a few hours later after paying a $150 cash deposit, according to the Lee County Jail website.

Valez is not the first TikTok phenomenon to be arrested this year. In May, Bryanthediamond was arrested and charged with drunk driving in addition to fleeing the scene of the accident, sparking reaction from pursuers in the process.
