Sussex Police: Ex-police officer accused of rape to appear in court

A former police officer accused of raping and sexually assaulting a woman he met on a dating app will appear in court.

Christopher Mallet, 40, a Horsham-based Sussex Police officer, allegedly attacked the woman he met online while off duty in May 2019.

He was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The investigation concluded in March 2021 and the Crown Prosecution Service approved the charges after reviewing the evidence file from the police watchdog.
