As the Buckeyes prepared to host Campbell on Friday night, a surprise name for Ohio State appeared in the annual availability report released by the Big Ten. In the absence of sophomore forward Sean Stewart, He left Tuesday’s game against Evansville early after hitting his head on the field.was expected, but the inclusion of sophomore center Aaron Bradshaw was unexpected.

Shortly thereafter, Ohio State released a statement through a team spokesperson, brief for conciseness.

“Aaron Bradshaw is not currently participating in team activities,” the statement read. “The university follows its own established process. “Due to federal privacy laws, we cannot share any further information at this time.”

Just like that, the status of Ohio State’s starting center, one of the key offseason additions and the centerpiece of the 2024-25 plan, has become a giant question mark. After Ohio State improved to 4-1 104-60 victory over the Fighting CamelsHead coach Jake Diebler said he couldn’t add anything beyond what was said in the statement.

“I understand you may have some questions regarding Aaron,” Diebler said as he opened his post-match press conference. “As stated, we have to refer to the published statement and cannot make any comments on this matter. Respect the work you have to do. “I want you to know that I cannot comment further on this matter.”

On Tuesday, Bradshaw finished with a season-high 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks in 26:33 of an 80-30 win over Evansville. It was his fourth start in as many games leading up to the season opener.

When did Bradshaw go from active participant to no longer participating in Ohio State team activities?

“I can tell you right now he’s not participating,” Diebler said. “If anything else happens, I just have to refer to the statement.”

Are there any steps Bradshaw must take or obstacles he must overcome to return to team activities?

“He is going through the college process right now and (I) cannot comment further,” Diebler said.

Finally, is there a timeline for when this might all play out?

“Again, he is going through a process with the university and he cannot have any other comment,” Diebler said.

Then we moved on to questions about the victory. A balanced offensive game against the Fighting Camels with six players scoring in double figures and assessing the team’s situation five games into the season. Injured Buckeyes Ques Glover (ankle) and Stewart (concussion protocol) are improving and their status for Monday’s home game against Green Bay has not yet been determined.

Diebler said there is a plan in place with the team’s medical staff regarding those cases and they will be evaluated as the Buckeyes approach their next game. What happens next in Bradshaw’s case is much less clear.

Glover and Stewart watched the game from the bench in their sweatpants. Bradshaw was not in the arena. Messages to the center were not returned.
