Mine worker arrested as murder suspect

Police said quarryman Siddappa Sheelavant (35) planned to eliminate one Shasikala on November 15, but this injured his beloved Basava Rajeshwari.

They said he was arrested and confessed his crime.

Sheelavant, a resident of Kushtagi Taluk in Koppal district, was working in a granite company.

Sheelavant, who is quite knowledgeable about the use of explosives in the granite industry, suspects Shasikala to be behind the rift between him and his beloved Rajeshwari and hatches a plan to eliminate her.

Rajeshwari, a widow, was in love with Sheelavant.

Rajeshwari recently became Shasikala’s friend and for the last one month, she started distancing herself from Sheelavant.

Angered by this, Sheelavant placed a detonator in the hair dryer and shipped it to Shasikala’s address. On November 15, Shasikala received it. Since he was busy with some work, he gave it to Rajeshwari, who was staying in the next house, to see what happened.

Rajeshwari turned on the hair dryer and started it. The explosion shattered his palm, police said.
