2 people killed in separate shootings in Montgomery on Friday

Two people were killed and a third was injured in two separate shootings in Montgomery on Friday.

On Saturday, police identified the slain men as Maurice Walker, 44, of North Carolina, and Marcelino Hernandez, 33, of Montgomery.

Officers and firefighters responded to the 900 block of West Southern Boulevard at 4:18 p.m. for a report of a person shot.

Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the same time, police were dispatched to the 100 block of Beckview Drive, where a second person was found injured, Maj. Saba Coleman said. The injuries are not life-threatening.

Investigators determined the second victim was also shot in the area of ​​West Southern Boulevard, Coleman said.

At 11:30 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the 4800 block of Park Towne Way. There they also found Hernandez dead from a gunshot wound.

Authorities did not disclose details about either attack. No arrests have been announced.
