1 person died after crashing into a telephone pole

PARKERSBURG, W.Va.. (WTAP) – A 20-year-old died after crashing into a telephone pole.

Crews responded to the accident that occurred in the 2400 block of Gihon Road with a single trap.

A call came in this morning at 8:09 a.m. that a vehicle had crashed into a telephone pole.

When crews arrived on scene, the car was on the hill and the telephone pole was on top of it.

The accident resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man.

An eyewitness testified he saw the vehicle accelerate before hitting the pole, Wood County 911 Dispatch reported.

Parkersburg Police and Fire Department responded to the scene, including the Crash Squad and Camden Clark Ambulance Service.
