Officers said Medina was asked to join officers outside during the incident; He reportedly refused and actively resisted.

When officers tried to apprehend Medina, he allegedly commanded the dog. The dog then bit the left calf of a Sioux City officer’s leg, causing the injury, documents say.

Authorities say Medina continued to resist officers, coerced them and refused to comply with officers’ verbal commands.

He was charged with one count of assault with intent to injure a person of a particular profession and one count of interference with official acts.

Medina was remanded to Woodbury County Jail on a $14,000 bond.

According to the documents, the hearing is scheduled to be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 14:00.
