Father and son arrested in fatal stabbing in Grant Hill

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSİ) — A man is dead after a fight in San Diego Friday afternoon, and a father and son are facing charges in the fatal stabbing, police said Saturday.

San Diego Police officers responded to reports of a fight at the intersection of 27th and L streets in San Diego’s Grant Hill neighborhood at 4:46 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from stab wounds and head trauma. Police said the man was taken to the hospital where he later died.

It is stated that the victim was a 36-year-old man. He has not yet been identified. Authorities say the person’s cause of death will be determined by autopsy.

San Diego Police officers arrested two men, 37-year-old Emilio Torres Valencia and his 17-year-old son, in connection with the stabbing death at the scene.

Valencia was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the fight and was later booked into the county jail. His son was taken to reform school.

According to police, one of the suspects and the victim were allegedly involved in a previous fight related to vandalism that occurred in that area about a month ago. Police believe the fight continued when the men saw each other on Friday afternoon.

During the fight, the suspect’s vehicle was destroyed with stones and sticks and crashed into a power pole.

The victim’s son was also at the scene and was returned to his mother. Police say he is not facing any charges at this time.

San Diego Police Homicide Detectives investigate and process the crime scene for physical evidence, seek out and interview witnesses, and collect security camera footage.
