FoN raises for 30 percent MDF campaign for women and girls’ education

Tarkwa (WR), 23 November, GNA – OXFAM in collaboration with Friends of the Nation (FoN), bicameral bicameral meetings to translate into policy the 30% campaign for Mineral Development Fund (MDF) allocation for women’s economic empowerment and girls’ education organized.

The meetings focused on the development of gender-sensitive, socially inclusive and economically oriented indicators for the allocation of mineral revenues, as well as specific interventions to promote gender equality, social inclusion and economic empowerment.

In Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Council, the meeting was held in Tarkwa, and in Ellembelle District Council, the meeting was held in Nkroful respectively.

Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Council Development Planning Officer, Ms. Amanda Pokuaa Adjei, emphasized the council’s commitment to continuously invest in women’s economic empowerment and girls’ education, recognizing the important role of women in social development.

He emphasized that to make these efforts more effective, 30% allocation of MDF to women’s economic empowerment and girls’ education should be translated into policy.

There was active participation in the meetings; Ms. Paulina Erzoah, member of the Change Agents Fishery Farming Association in Ellembelle district, advocated for 30% of the MDF to be allocated to a separate account specifically for women-focused initiatives.

FoN Project Officer, Mr. William Augustine Dankyi, on behalf of FoN Executive Director, called on local authorities and councils to continue prioritizing the needs of women and children, reiterating that at least 30% of MDF should be used for empowerment. women and children.

She emphasized that an empowered woman strengthens the household and society at large.
