In a tragic incident, at least three people lost their lives when a speeding car crashed into the Ramganga River from an under-construction bridge in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. According to the information obtained, the incident took place today (November 24) around 10:00 in the morning, when the car carrying three passengers was heading from Bareilly to Dataganj in Badaun district. However, while following the GPS navigation, the car fell off a bridge under construction. The road navigation platform could not inform passengers that the front part of the bridge had collapsed into the river during the previous flood in the region.

Police stated: “The deceased was heading towards Dataganj using GPS. This may have led them to follow the route across the bridge. Little did they know, however, that floods earlier this year had caused the front part of the bridge to collapse. However, this change was not updated on the GPS and the result was “The driver was misled and did not realize that the bridge was unsafe.”

“In addition, the lack of safety barriers or warning signs on the bridge under construction increased the danger and led to the fatal accident,” the police added.

What is important is that although the police stated that they removed the vehicle and the bodies from the river, the identities of the dead have not yet been determined. They also informed that as soon as they took notice of the incident, police teams from Dataganj police stations of Faridpur, Bareilly and Badaun rushed to the spot to help the victims.

District Circle Officer Ashutosh Shivam stated that all three bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy. A detailed investigation into the incident continues.
