Westminster Bridge closed after man stabbed

Westminster Bridge was closed after a stabbed man fought for his life.

When police descended on the landmark at around 10.43am after reports of a fight, they found a man in critical condition with stab wounds.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while one person was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Two of those arrested were taken to hospital with minor facial injuries, the Metropolitan Police said. It appears that the incident is not considered terrorism-related. The road was closed to traffic while police investigated.

A Met spokesman said: “Police were called at 10.43am on Sunday 24 November to reports of a fight on Westminster Bridge in SE1.

“Officers, London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended the scene and found a man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

“3 people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and 1 person was arrested on suspicion of affray. Two people with minor facial injuries were taken to hospital.

“There is a road closure. Investigations continue.”
