McGregor found by a jury in a civil court to have assaulted Miss Hand In a hotel in south Dublin in December 2018.

The jury of eight women and four men deliberated for just over six hours before delivering its verdict Friday afternoon.

McGregor nodded after the jury read that Ms. Hand had won her case against him.

However, she lost her lawsuit against another man, James Lawrence, who she claimed “brutally raped and assaulted” her that same night.

Both denied the allegation and claimed the sex was consensual.

In a now-deleted post, McGregor angrily criticized the verdict, vowed to appeal and said he wanted to be “acquitted.”

Speaking outside court after winning the civil case, Ms Hand said: “I’d like to start by saying: overwhelmed and touched “Thanks to the support I’ve received from everyone.”

He later thanked a number of people who supported him during the trial, before paying an emotional tribute to his daughter.

She tearfully said: “Finally, I want to thank my daughter Freya, to whom I am most grateful.

“Throughout this nightmare of the last six years, she has given me so much strength and courage to continue to push for justice.

“I want to show Freya and all other boys and girls that if something happens to you, no matter who the person is, you can defend yourself and justice will be served.”

Earlier in the case, McGregor denied Ms Hand’s claims and claimed they had “enthusiastic and athletic” sex.

The Irish sports star was shown photos of the bruises on Ms Hand’s body in the days after the alleged attack.

On cross-examination, McGregor denied causing the bruises, saying they were “probably caused by him diving into the bathroom.”

Ms. Hand’s lawyer emphasized that the tampon had to be removed from her using forceps when she went to the hospital following the alleged rape.

Mr Gordon said: “The liar here is McGregor, who does not have the courage or decency to admit what he did.

“He’s not a man, he’s a sneaky coward and you should treat him like he is.”

Referring to the bruises on Ms Hand’s body, Mr Gordon said: “Let’s put it this way: Someone did it. It happened at the Beacon Hotel. It was McGregor.”
