Three people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while one person was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Two suspects with minor facial injuries were taken to the hospital.

The incident was initially reported as a stabbing, but subsequent police investigations confirmed this was not the case; investigation continues.

It took place a few meters away from the houses Parliament – in front of horrified tourists.

A spokesman for the force said: “At 10.43am on Sunday, November 24, police were called to reports of a fight on Westminster Bridge in SE1.

“Officers attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance, where they found a man in cardiac arrest.

“Initial reports suggested the man had been stabbed, but subsequent investigations confirmed this was not the case. “Investigations are ongoing to establish how the man suffered a heart attack.

“The man remains in hospital in a critical condition.

“3 people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and 1 person was arrested on suspicion of affray. 2 of those arrested were hospitalized with head injuries.

“Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.

“Officers are also appealing for anyone with CCTV, mobile phone footage or dashcam footage that could help further the investigation.”
