A search is on for two people after a man was taken to hospital following an attack in Inverclyde

A hunt has been launched to catch two suspects after a man was taken to hospital following an attack in Inverclyde.

Officers were called to Montgomerie Street in Port Glasgow at around 4.35pm on Saturday.

A 56-year-old man reported he was assaulted and had his wallet and jewelry stolen at 2 p.m.

The man was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and released after treatment.

Police are trying to track down two suspects who are described as white, between the ages of 20 and 30, and of slim build.

One of the suspects was wearing gray and the other was wearing black.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Constable Agnieszka Telford said: “Our investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and to trace the two men responsible.

“If you were in the Montgomerie Street area on Saturday afternoon and witnessed anything suspicious or related to this investigation, please contact us.
