TMC Ignores That He Is A Rajya Sabha MP In Its Top Party Meeting

Kolkata: West Bengal’s ruling Trinamul Congress has begun to distance itself from Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy for his stand against the Mamata Banerjee government, even to the brutal rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital (RGKMCH).

In a rare turn of events, Mr Roy was not invited to his party’s national executive committee meeting on Monday. While the TMC MP, who was on the party panel, remained silent on his own party’s mistreatment, state minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim made a veiled reference to Mr Roy’s role at the peak of mass protests across the state. brutal crime in august.

Mr. Roy had not only attended the midnight vigil on August 15 but also sought the arrest of the then Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and former RGKMCH principal Sandip Ghosh by the CBI in a social media post. He later received a summons for questioning from the city police over the search, but he challenged it in the Calcutta High Court before withdrawing his petition.

On Sunday his Honor said: “Party discipline is paramount. It is not possible for someone to say everything that is against party discipline. The party will not support those who support it. The state government was not involved in the RG Kar incident. “We want the death penalty to be imposed for the crime as much as the assistant doctors who organize the protest want it.”
