Conflict broke out between spectators of the Santa Claus parade: 62-year-old woman charged with assault

A St. A St. Thomas woman is charged with assault for a confrontation that police say involved two people participating in the city’s Santa parade and a dispute over obstructing a family’s view.

St. Thomas police said Sunday that the 62-year-old St. He said a St. Thomas man was arrested at the annual parade Saturday evening.

Police said an argument broke out between a woman and another spectator because a family’s view was obstructed. St. Thomas police said the woman hit the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground.

Police were called and the suspect was arrested. St. St. Thomas police said the woman, whose name police have not publicly released, was taken to police headquarters and released with a future court date.

Three people injured in crash in Brantford area

One person was hospitalized and two others were injured after a two-car crash south of Brantford Saturday afternoon, state police said.

Police and emergency services, including the Ornge air ambulance, were called to a crash involving an SUV and pickup truck at Villa Nova Road and Concession 2 Townsend around 12:38 a.m. Saturday, Norfolk County OPP said in a news release Sunday.

The two people in the SUV were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, OPP said. Police said the driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Villa Nova Road and Concession 2 Townsend, a rural crossing controlled by a stop sign at Concession 2 Townsend, were closed for approximately six hours due to a police investigation.

Man accused of assaulting child

St. Thomas police say a man who reported a child being bullied at school has been charged with one count of assault.

Police said an 11-year-old boy reported Friday morning at school that he had been assaulted by his father the night before. St. The unidentified child suffered minor injuries, St. Thomas police said Saturday.

Family and Child Services was contacted and the incident was reported to the police. Police said the department’s criminal investigation branch took over the investigation.

The child’s father, whose identity has not been released, was arrested and charged with one count of assault.

St. St. Thomas police said the child was released on the condition that conditions for his protection are met.
