Spartanburg deputies arrest man who attacked elderly woman

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office said Saturday they arrested a man who attacked an elderly woman who was watching her grandchildren.

Deputies said that when the woman arrived at the scene, she explained that her grandchildren’s father had come to the residence to pick up the children.

According to what the woman told deputies, she started arguing with the children’s father, whereupon she pushed the children and their father away from the door.

Deputies said the father, 34-year-old LaQuinton Lowrence-Ferguson, tried to force the door open and broke it down.

The woman told deputies that once inside, Lowrance-Ferguson grabbed her by the throat and threw her to the floor onto the coffee table.

When deputies spoke with Lowrance-Ferguson, she claimed that the children’s grandmother had tried to hit her with an unknown object.

Deputies said they did not observe any injuries to Lowrence-Ferguson.

Lowrance-Ferguson was transferred to Spartanburg Co. without further incident. He was sent to the Detention Center.

He is accused of the following crimes:

  • malicious injury
  • Assault and battery first degree
  • Theft first degree

He was not given bail.
