It was reported that a man attacked a woman with a knife on the street in Taipei’s Neihu District (內湖) this morning, and the woman was in critical condition.

At 11:10 a.m., the Taipei Fire Department received a report that two people were injured on Ruiguang Road, where they found a woman named Tsai (蔡) and a man named Su (宿).

Tsai, 48, suffered multiple stab wounds, including to her chest, abdomen and arms, before fainting, the ministry said.

It was stated that 52-year-old Su appeared to have stabbed himself in the chest.

Both people were taken to nearby hospitals, but Tsai lost vital signs and was stated to be in critical condition on the way to Tri-Service General Hospital, and Su was stated to be conscious on the way to Cathay General Hospital.

Initial reports suggest the attack stemmed from a relationship dispute, with Su attacking Tsai and then turning the knife on herself.

Although Su appears to be Tsai’s ex-boyfriend, no motive has been determined as of this writing. Police are continuing the investigation.

Witnesses told TVBS that Su was calmly smoking a cigarette and wandering around the scene when police arrived and arrested him.

The TV channel also reported that the attack occurred in front of MediaTek’s main gate in Neihu Science Park, but neither was an employee of the company.
