YSL closing arguments begin today in Georgia’s longest trial ever

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Closing arguments will begin Monday at the YSL hearing in Atlanta, two days shy of one year since witness testimony began.

Testimony for what has become Atlanta’s trial of the 21st century began on November 27, 2023, with the internationally renowned, award-winning rapper. Young Thug and several others were facing multiple organized crime, weapons and drug-related charges. Young Thug – real name Jeffery Williams – had already spent more than a year and a half in jail while awaiting trial.

Prosecutors are trying to show that YSL (Young Slime Life) is a street gang responsible for numerous crimes. Defense attorneys say YSL is not a gang, just the name of a record label called Young Stoner Life.

Fulton County prosecutor Adriane Love is organizing an exhibit in the YSL case.

Now, with plea deals agreed last month for the musician himself and three other defendants, not only Deamonte Kendrick (aka Yak Gotti) and Shannon Stillwell (aka SB) remained.

As Yak Gotti celebrated his 32nd birthday in court Thursday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, prosecutors and attorneys addressed a final set of administrative matters before closing arguments began Monday.

After prosecutors wrapped up the case last week, defense attorneys refused to call any witnesses or present any evidence.
